What is lip blush?
Lip blush is a natural way to enhance your lips, add colour, and give you an effortless look. This is not the old style of semi permanent makeup. Bold, bright, overdrawn lip liner can look very unnatural. Lip blush is a subtle colour that creates the illusion of a fuller, more defined lip.
Approximately 3 hours.
Lip blush can last anywhere between 2 and 3 years. A top-up is required 6-12 weeks after your first appointment, which is included in the price.
No. You may feel a slight tingling sensation after the procedure, but it should not be painful. A numbing aesthetic cream is applied throughout the treatment. Following your pre-care advice carefully will significantly affect comfort levels.
Swelling is expected but short-lived. Healing typically lasts 1-7 days. The first 24 hours carry the highest risk of infection, so the lips must be kept clean and hydrated using Vitamin A+D applied with a cotton bud.
Healing timeline
Day 1: Swollen
Day 2: Colour appears darker
Day 3-6: Flaking, dryness, tenderness, itching, redness, tightness
Day 7: Colour appears 30-50% lighter
Aftercare
• Drink plenty of water but avoid getting lips wet for 5 days (use a straw)
• Apply Vitamin A+D before showering or brushing teeth
• No sunbeds, sauna, swimming, steam rooms, or holidays for 2 weeks
• Apply SPF 50 lip balm when exposed to the sun
• Do not pick or scratch lips
• Do not use retinol or exfoliating products on the area
• Continue applying Vitamin A+D frequently
• Avoid exercise for 24-48 hours
• Sweating can draw pigment out and increase infection risk
Colour bloom
Over the next 4-8 weeks, the colour will gradually bloom into a soft, natural shade.
Maintenance
A second appointment is required 6-12 weeks after the first. Colour refresh is recommended every 12-24 months. Prices start from £150.
This treatment may trigger cold sores for those who carry the herpes simplex virus. It is highly recommended to take antiviral medication (Valtrex) for 5 days prior to the appointment.
Once healed, the colour may appear to have faded or disappeared. This is normal. Pigment develops under the skin and will return within up to 4 weeks.
